The Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA)—which regulates non-cocoa tree crops like cashew, rubber, coconut, oil palm, mango, and shea—has rolled out key strategic measures:

  • Cashew Farmgate Price: For the 2025/2026 crop season, the Government approved an official minimum producer price of GH¢12.00 per kg for raw cashew nuts (up from GH¢8.50/kg in previous seasons). This move aims to insulate local farmers from regional price volatility while maintaining export competitiveness.
  • 3-Million Rubber Seedling Distribution: TCDA launched a major drive to distribute over 3 million elite rubber seedlings (starting with an initial batch of 160,000 for the current planting season) across the Western, Central, and Eastern regions. The program aims to establish new plantations, rehabilitate aging farms, and feed downstream rubber processing (e.g., tires and industrial components).
  • Seedling Certification Mandate: To protect plantation health, TCDA now strictly enforces regulatory directives requiring all private agribusinesses, NGOs, and state programs to source tree crop seedlings exclusively from TCDA-certified nursery operators.
